Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
"Cryin for Me" Toby Keith (click on the arrow to play the song)
We lost our friend on December 14, 2008, he touched each of our lives in his own special way, leaving each of us enough stories to last a life time. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was one of a kind. He spoke his mind, was honest and trustworthy and had his own unique way of doing things, from his morning rituals to his mid-life crisis. Most people buy a sports car when they are having their mid-life crisis, not Richard; he felt the need to re-live his youth by playing semi-pro football in his mid to late 30’s.
He made us laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. Because of Richard, many of us will never look at the letter "P", a jar of peanut butter, a stray dog, an elevator, football or wrestling quite the same way as we did prior to knowing him. He could have been the poster child for living life to the fullest and not allowing things to get in the way of what was most important, which to him was his family!
Massei and Dawson, there will never be a day that your dad is forgotten by any of us. We miss the daily updates about your lives from your boyfriends Massei to Dawson’s football games, to how brilliant the two of you are in school. He always told us that he hugged and kissed you guys so much, so that the two of you would know just how much you are loved. He was a good son, loving husband, great father and faithful friend and will be missed by all of us.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Richard's family.
God Bless
